Can You Hear Me

As a little girl my mother taught me that silence was the way to navigate through life. In her silence her message was very clear. Have no opinion, have no point of view, have no voice.

I learned to know that my voice didn’t matter. That it had no value. No power. No leverage. And that whatever I had to say wouldn’t change a thing.

I was taught to be silent. And I was. Until the age of 18 I broke free. I expressed my pain by singing the blues into crowds of people I didn’t even know. And I made them listen. I made them hear me.

Do you have a voice that needs to be heard? May I hear it ?

Your voice matters to me.
